Math Medic AP Stats is Fully Aligned to the New CED

Luke Wilcox

The College Board has released the new Course and Exam Description (CED) for AP Statistics for the 2026-2027 school year. Both the course content and the AP Exam have had significant revisions (see all the changes here).

We have put the finishing touches on the new Math Medic AP Stats Full Curriculum that is perfectly aligned to the new CED. The Math Medic full curriculum includes:

  • Lesson Plans – Printable lessons plans and answer keys for every day of the school year (still FREE and always will be).
  • Lesson Videos – Instructional videos for every lesson, taught by one of our expert teachers.
  • Assessment Platform – Homework, quizzes, and tests, plus a full question bank, perfectly aligned to the Math Medic lessons.
  • Teacher Resources – Tips for differentiation, assessment guidance, parent communication, and student self-reflections.

Of course, there are many changes we made to the existing AP Stats curriculum in order to fully align with the new CED. Here are the highlights:

Content Organized Into 10 Teachable Units

Each unit can be taught in two to three weeks on a traditional schedule. Unit 10 covering Two-Variable Data can be taught anywhere in the course.

Several Brand-New Lessons

The new CED has an increased focus on students identifying variables and the investigative question in a statistical study, which will ultimately help them with inference procedures at the end of the course. We have developed several new lessons to help students get more practice with all of this (Lessons 1.1, 9.6, 9.7). In addition, we have created multiple new lessons that make better connections between topics and help students with deeper conceptual understanding (Lessons 7.8, 8.1, 10.5).

  • Lesson 1.1 – Statistical Studies
  • Lesson 7.8 – Introduction to Chi-Square
  • Lesson 8.1 – Introduction to the t-distribution
  • Lesson 9.6 – Choosing the Correct Inference Procedure
  • Lesson 9.7 – The Investigative Question
  • Lesson 10.5 – Coefficient of DeterminationĀ

New Review Activities

The test is tomorrow and you need something to get students ready today. Rather than simply giving them a worksheet with practice problems, use the new Math Medic Review Activities. Students will play trashketball, try to crack the code, or do a scavenger hunt – all while preparing them for the upcoming unit test.

Assessments Aligned to the New AP Exam

All 1700 multiple choice questions in the Math Medic AP Stats Assessment Platform have been modified to have only 4 answer choices to match what students will see on the AP Exam. For our 1500 free response questions, many will be updated to match the new 10-point formatting on the AP Exam.
